Mandy Mozart (A)

A post-opera web toon about a cat amongst “men”?
Hackers, Cats, Semi-Gods and a choir that knows it all!
In a genre bending first solo album and web toon by Mandy Mozart as lead singer is featuring their baritone voice, choir, drones, brass and electronics in a never before heard union. Despite the “solo” nature of this release Mandy Mozart has followed their passion for collaboration and invited a long list of collaborators to create a post opera masterpiece of epic proportions. 6 epic songs echo the story of a pope-like preacher confronted with their true nature – being not all powerful but merely a cat. Even though the album is taking place in a fictional universe it is a vivid metaphor for the unparalleled hubris of today’s patriarchs.
The songs written from both perspectives, that of a cat and that of the fragile ego of pathetic men in power try to make peace through poetry and hyper fiction.
“Like American Psycho but with Heavenly Chartasis” Bret Ellis Easton
While on their last album “Love for Women” Mandy Mozart was working primarily as a producer with artists such as Keren Dun, Kiki Hitomi, Ampora Bagatallia aka Catnapp and others, the album is steadfast testament of a 5 years long quest for a voice of their own. Leaving behind not only their corporate IT job, but the computer as a primary instrument. Mandy Mozart found solace in their lifelong love for medieval and classical choir music which started their musical journey at age 14. At the end of an intense research period into male voices which influence their song writing one will strong influences from artists such Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Ricky Martin, David Bowie and Hermann van Veen who not only have a baritone voice, but also a unique way of melancholic and poetic story telling. But also Bjork’s sound collages, XYZ Drone Choir, Aisha Devi, Neyge Neyge artists and doom metal band SUNN((o)) played a huge role in Mandy Mozarts pursuit to find a voice and a message for a globalized world in constant threat from the bespoken autocrats, dictators and psychopaths patriarchy brought onto us.
Mandy Mozart started to sing, score complex choirs and even conduct with the help of a long list of Viennese and international artists. Mandy Mozart’s mastery of weaving together the voices of a world class ensemble ranging from avant-garde noise, contemporary, orthodox, barock, classical and electronic and pop musicians is unparalleled in this scale.
