Fire Like Fire is a new project of vocalist and composer Cinder (Gordon Sharp) and improviser Petr Vrba.

The former is primarily known for Cindytalk, a cult band/project from the 80s that gradually worked its way from unconventional post-punk and goth to post-industrial and to the essential Editions Mego label. Alongside this, we should mention Cinder's participation in 4AD's supergroup This Mortal Coil and also in Becoming Animal, a collaboration with Zu's Massimo Pupillo, which saw Cinder's glorious return to singing.

Vrba, as a musician and organizer, is a major participant in the Czech and European improvisation scene. As a trumpeter and electronics player, he is able to operate at a high level both in the realm of extended techniques and loose or fragmented structures (Prague Improvisation Orchestra, Poisonous Frequencies, etc.) and in the context of drone or more rhythmic electronics (Boyse or the collaboration with Cult of Masks).

Their musical encounter promises experiments in the sonic psychogeography of a hostile terrain. Expect dark soundscapes and Cinder's vocals, at once balladic and majestic. We expect a dynamic movement between the melancholy of processed trumpet and traces of folk music, and between tribal rhythms and fractured electronics. We expect emotion and sound that cut deep. We've seen Petr in perhaps a dozen lineups, and he's managed to enrich them all; we've seen Cinder every time she's played in our country, and it's always been spectacular.
