“Big brother is watching you!” Der weltberühmte dystopische Klassiker von George Orwell ist heutzutage relevanter als je zuvor. Er behandelt komplexe Themen wie totale Überwachung, Gehirnwäsche oder Militärdiktaturen, aber auch die Frage nach den Grenzen der Menschlichkeit. Im Zentrum des Stückes stehen das Erwachen W. Smith aus einer scheinbar alternativlosen Realität, bestehend aus strengen parteilichen Doktrinen, denen blind gefolgt werden muss. Angestoßen wird Smiths emotionale Entwicklung durch Julia. Die beiden verlieben sich und schließen sich der Rebellion an um Big Brother zu bekämpfen. Doch die Partei kommt ihnen auf die Schliche und ihre Loyalität unterliegt schweren Prüfungen. Wer wird gewinnen?

It highlights complex and controversial topics such as total surveillance, brainwashing, or military dictatorships, but also questions the limits of humanity. The play follows W. Smith’s gradual disillusionment with Party doctrines that have to be followed blindly. Smith’s emotional journey starts when Julia first appears. The two fall in love and join the rebellion to fight Big Brother. But the Party discovers their intentions and their loyalty is tested to extremes. Who will win?
