Running a (one-person) design studio: 8 things I learned in 2018

Lunch & Lecture
Vortrag von Verena Michelitsch.
Running a (one-person) design studio: 8 things I learned in 2018 Verena Michelitsch is a designer, art director and illustrator. She specializes in branding and art direction and is passionate about creating visual worlds for brands and institutions. She studied Information Design at FH JOANNEUM and graduated in 2007. After finishing her studies, Verena was selected to be in an artist-in-residency program (by the federal state of Styria) at Rondo in Graz for a year. This supported her decision to start her own studio right away, and after this year she joined the co-founders of En Garde to grow the studio over the course of 4 years and worked for clients like Kastner & Öhler and Schauspielhaus Graz. Verena has been living in New York since 2011. After a short stint at Sagmeister Inc. she worked for various design and advertising firms in the city, as well as in-house for tech companies like Apple and Google Creative Labs. In 2017 she decided to start her own agency and began to work directly with clients from her studio in Brooklyn. In this lecture she gives insights into her process, learnings, successes and errors from the first year of working fully independently as a designer in the United States.
